선배님 can sound more respectful in many contexts, while a person may ask to be called by name instead. Listen to how they introduce themselves.

Dramas can make a word memorable, but real workplaces and campuses have their own habits. A short respectful question is better than copying a scene.

Adjust when the context changes

The same two people may use a role title at work and a name in a private conversation. If you are corrected, acknowledge it briefly and use the requested form next time.
